    trouble updating drivers
    « on: January 18, 2013, 09:55:42 AM »
    hi,

i have an asus sabertooth 990fx rev 1, with an 8-core bulldozer and an amd xfx 6850 graphics card 16gb ram. on win 8 and all latest updates.

running great for months, just tried to update the drivers, as usual, from the asus website, and they wont install properly, :

chipset error - says installs with errors
audio driver - wont install says `the configuration registry database is corrupt', and or : error 0x000003F1. The sound then only plays through the TV speakers!

I restored it and its fine on the older drivers ....

    any ideas?

    thanks jools  ???

My guess is it doesn't need the updates...
New drivers are not always proper drivers...
If everything is running fine i'd leave things be....
    But that's just me.

Think about what you wrote there and you will know what to do (or not do).

i restored the pc and re-installed- - but only installing the drivers which were definitely outdated (most were an over-install of the same), the graphics is a lot better too.

Overclocking with the new Amd catayst manager i get 4.75 - 4.9 mhz rock solid with the turbo-core on.  No overheating problems at all. Thats with the 8-core bulldozer (bus speed 250 and with advanced system care 6 power plan enabled).

      cheers blippy... ;D
