re-installing windows 98 se

        I need to re-install windows 98 se.The cd is legit
and I have no intention of putting it on any other computer.Windows says that this cd is for the first boot
only,but I need it to get my computer going again.My
backup disk doesn`t work.I get as far as procuct key
and then it wont go any farther.tks.

    Did you reformat or is this a "dirty" install? Try booting to DOS and change to the c:\windows\command directory. At the prompt enter the this command:  FIND.EXE/I "ProductKey" %winbootdir%\SYSTEM.DAT
    If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything.

    Do you have the product key?  It may be on a label affixed to the side of the computer case.

    So what happens when you put in your legal product key and press enter?

    I got this PM from the poster:

    I think the issue is the legit product key, n'est pas? Regardless, to the Sin Bin for this one. Lock the cage.
