    Administrator Login for Recovery
    « on: June 03, 2018, 10:32:30 PM »
My sister-in-law gave me an old Dell Inspiron 13 laptop. The OS seems to have a corrupted webio.dll issue which I can't fix with any solution I can find on the internet. The laptop doesn't seem to come with a recovery disk, but there is a recovery partition within it.

As I run the recovery, I was prompted to log in to the administrator account, which is not same with the one in User Account:

I've tried all the possible passwords that my sister-in-law can remember, but non works.

    Any solution to this?

    Thank you.

It matters which Windows OS you have.
    https://www.zdnet.com/article/windows-10-tip-how-to-enable-the-built-in-administrator-account-and-why-you-shouldnt/
The above is for windows 10.

In Windows XP you boot in safe mode and the administrator might have a blank password.

If you are unable to get in in the system the proper way, you might consider a  sort of kind of of 'hack' by using a Linux demo CD. It is rather involved.
But before doing that, watch some videos. Search You Tube for:
Videos of how to enable the built-in administrator account
..and you might find a solution.   :)

      Hi Geek,

Thank you. I am able to run the recovery with the enabled built-in administrator account.

      Cheers!

The lower part of the screenshot looks like Windows 7. The upper part has $HomegroupUser$ in the list- that suggests Windows 7 since that is when MS added Homegroups.
