.lnk files
« on: October 10, 2005, 10:17:36 PM »
Most of my shortcuts, files, folders, and executables have been turned into .lnk files. I cannot run or open any of them because my computer does not recognize .lnk, and neither do I. Does any one know what happed, what cause it, and what I have to do to fix it? Please help if you know anything on the topic. I have tried to run a system restore, but since I can't open that file because it is a .lnk file I could do that either...

Are you dual booting???  What OS are you running???

Almost impossible to help you if you don't tell us what OS we are dealing with...

.LNK files are shortcut files in MS Win.9x

See here for other options.

Clay....As you didnt say what O/S .....I just took a guess
as to what the problem might be .....

REPAIRING ASSOCIATION FOR .LNK (SHORTCUT) FILES.  When shortcuts won't work, it is normally because the registry entries for .lnk files have been damaged.  If you use W95 without the IE4 update, click here to download a .reg file.  If you use W95 with IE4 or have W98, click here for the file.  Unzip the .reg file and to view it, right-click it and select edit.  To merge the data into the registry, double-click the file.
here's the link to the file you need .......http://home.satx.rr.com/badour/assets/images/LnkW98.zip
