ECP Printer Port
« on: March 24, 2004, 06:47:37 AM »
I have an XP box with a local printer in LPT1.  I want the parallel port to use the generic port driver but after every reboot XP changes the driver to ECP.  I've tried different settings in the BIOS (EPP, PS2, OFF), have turned off System Restore and unchecked the Enable Legacy Plug and Play Detection checkbox in the ECP Printer Port Properties.  Any ideas?

<<UPDATE>>
It seems the port IS remaining generic after all.  So.. the system is not changing the port back to ECP after each boot but, I still have to update the driver from standard to standard before it will print properly.  If I don't do this, the printer (a Zebra label printer) will print but random information will be missing on most labels.
