windows will not load only a dos promt appears

Help,
Windows is not loading at start up, the computer goes directly to a dos prompt.  Tried typing exit and no result. Tried system repair (3 times), nothing found.  Searched directory no file errors.  Any new ideas?

Please share hardware specs:

If an off the shelf model, Make/Model, and if any upgrades that info included.

If its a custom built computer please specify all specs of the build that you can share.

*Problems like this are generally caused by a hardware incompatability etc, so I would like to see what you have for a system before going further.
