In my case the problem was Malware Bytes anti exploit version 9.5.1000. I have now updated to 10.3.0100 ( See link below ) and after a couple of frustrating weeks trying to rectify the problem, it has now been solved. I/E back and working, latest security fix applied and ready to go. Having said that my main browser is still Google Chrome. Never have a problem with it.
