    Windows Easy Transfer
    « on: May 20, 2014, 01:18:15 PM »
I am trying to move my stuff from XP to Win8. I'm going to try the network method. Only on XP when I click the download button on the microsoft page http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=7349 the next page asks "Choose the download I want", the options are tfrcable_X86.exe & tfrcable_X64.exe  I dont understand much about computers so this really has me baffled.  ???

You want the x86 file.  The great majority of XP systems are 32-bit (x86).  64-bit XP does exist but wasn't widely used.  Unless you know that your XP system is 64-bit, just go wth the x86 file.  Even if your XP system is 64-bit, the x86 version will probably still work.

Thanks, I just tried both options for shts&giggles. You are correct. I ran 64 1st and got mesage "update/update is not a Win 32 application". 86 took me to WET. Thanks again, back to the salt mines for me.
