    Black Screen, nothing at all
    « on: February 24, 2015, 08:03:34 PM »
    Hi there,
A friend of mine gave me his Sony Vaio, to see if i can get it working. Model No: SVF152C29M. All i know is that it's got Windows 8 already on it when he bought it. He tried 2 down grade to Windows 7. Now, when you turn it on there's nothing happening at all.
You can see very faintly that something's working but the screen is so very, very dark to make out what. Will it be anything to do with graphics. The sound's there.
I'm afraid i don't know anything about the laptop. Just it's Windows 8.

    Any suggestions????

It sounds like there may be a problem with the monitor screen or the video graphics. Did you try connecting another monitor to the laptop?

How did he "try" to downgrade to Win7 ? ?
Has he installed drivers for Win7 ? ?

There is likely a restore partition on there to take it back to Day 1 status if that's an option...the instructions are at the Sony site.

      Hi there,
Ok, i'll try that. I think my friend just downloaded free off some site. Doubt if he got drivers as he's not very clued up. I'm not either but i wouldn't have tried to get Windows 7 in the 1st place. Thank-you for ur quick reply.

Be forewarned that a Factory Restore wipes everything...so ask him 1st...

looks like the downgrade process was not completed properly.

He may have removed the CD and did not complete the installation.

On your side do you get any errors while starting? if not how much time have you waited for the OS to start?

Query with him and keep us posted.
