USB devices not being detected
« on: November 10, 2005, 02:43:53 AM »
USB devices are not being detected on my Windows 2000 PC. The only reason I can think for this is that I mapped a number of drives, but these have all now been disconnected. I have re-booted the PC but they are still not being detected. No matter what USB device I connect  they do not display in Computer Management / Storage / Disk Management

Try this. Go to Control Panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager...locate your USB Root Hubs and right clik all of them and select Remove. You will recieve a warning message ...ignore it.
Re-boot the machine and Windows will automaticallly reinstall the USB device drivers.
Plug in a USB drive and wait a few minutes then check it in Disk Management.
