Wake on lan
« on: April 29, 2015, 06:31:38 PM »
Hello,

I am trying to set up wake on lan for my computer using an app on my phone. I have turned it on in my bois, added port forwarding for ports 7 and 9, and exceptions in my firewall, turned on wake for magic packet in my network card. I have watch 10 videos and even used an application called Wakeonlanmonitor which is showing that my computer is receiving the packets when the computer is turned on. I am at a loss, would there be a reason why my computer would not read the packets when off? I am working on Windows 8 and use a Verizon fios router.

Figured it out. Power setting were in S4 for shut down which will not allow WOL. Keeping the computer in sleep or changing settings to let computer shut down to S5 allowed it to work.
