long white strip across screen on laptop

across the top of the screen on my laptop Toshiba computer there is a long white strip.  At the very left of the strip is a capital D in blue and next to it are a faded  arrow pointing left, a faded arrow pointing right, and a faded capital C. Next to those are the words Search the Web.  This started some time ago and I have done system restores but it is still there.    Would anyone know what is causing this?  Thank you.   Anna Ruth

Sounds like a rogue search toolbar...run all your protection apps.

I scan every day with Panda antivirus and an antimalware.   Is that what you mean by protection apps?

thank you.    It seems to be gone now, but will try the cleaner if it returns, which is possible with my laptop.
