deleting temp files

I would like to know if it is ok to delete documents and settings\administrator\local settings\temp files in hidden files. These files include some Windows temp files ,browser temp files and others. The total amount is about 450MB. I am unsure about deleting them because sometimes they show up in CCleaner to be deleted and sometimes they don't but it doesn't delete them even when it lists them as to be deleted.  I've used CCleaner instead of Windows disc cleanup because I thought it did a better job but its never listed files and not deleted them as best as I can remember. I would like to delete them manually if it is safe to do so because I think they might be slowing down my computer but I'm concerned about them being in hidden files. Thanks

Disk cleanup will delete them.

It's safe to delete files in your temp folder(s). If you've recently installed new software just reboot one time because sometimes the installers place a file in the temp folder needed to complete the install after a reboot.

I tried disc cleanup just to be sure and it didn't delete any local settings\temp files-sorry super Dave. CCleaner listed 442MB to be deleted so I ran it and it only deleted 0.31MB from local settings\temp - about 1 folder and 4 files. I checked the temp folder before and after cleaning and you could see the gaps left by the deleted files. So I clicked analyze in CCleaner again and it said 0 bytes to be removed - I may get on their forum and get their explanation. Sorry but some files say it could damage the system to delete them. File examples I'm leary about - Lang ( contain DLL's) , MozUpdater (for Thunderbird ) , WER ( Dr. Watson ) , IMT.xml (Internet Explorer script files - a bunch ) , PCIUtil.dll and several setup files ( Win 2000 , VLC media player , etc.) . Still think deleting is OK ? Why is this temp folder hidden in the first place ? thanks again

1) If they are in a temp folder you can delete them

2) If you're not sure, you can always move them to another folder you create, reboot, and see if there are any issues (there won't be)
