Battle Chess 4000

I'm trying to run BC4000 in Windows XP.  The DOS window pops open briefly, then just goes away.  How can I get this to work?  Thanks.

Open a command line, such as Run in the start menu, or Command Prompt, and run BC4000 from there

OK, I get to see the error that way.

Error: No expanded memory manager found.
