Have just installed on my laptop the free version of Onlineocr.net, but I have got stuck after Step 3, which says CONVERT.
I clicked on CONVERT, as instructed, but what is the next step please?

The file I have converted is in PICTURES on my laptop, but how to open it with WORD now?

    I use Windows 10.

    Many thanks.

That is a free image to text conversion service. It is a on-line OCR.

    Here is a short answer.
If you can not get it to work, try something else.

    Do you have a scanner?

If you select Microsoft Word output format, the file you get from onlineocr.net is a Microsoft Word .doc or .docx file. I just tried it.

Thank you, patio. That story is from "Lives of Fair and Gallant Ladies" by the Abbé de Brantôme (1540 - 1614), a favourite book of mine.

I have to say I would NEVER use online OCR for anything even slightly personal or confidential. Even if their intentiosn are good, si their security?

Hastily typed. Even if their intentions are good, is their security?

This could be a honey-pot for the unworldly - a clever variant of phishing, (where naive, gullible or non-tech people are persuaded to divulge bank details etc.) Hey! Free online OCR! Scan your bank/mortgage/credit card statement! If not, if I were a hacker, I'd be very interested to get in that site.

There are alternatives. I use a free offline (local) OCR app called FreeOCR which you can download here
