problems with a windows 7 install
    « on: July 26, 2016, 03:26:08 PM »
I have a Fujitsu laptop that I don't use much. I had Windows 10 installed. I got an ISO file from digital river of Windows 10 to put a fresh install on the computer. After I put the dvd in and when it ask me what drive I want the OS on I get the screen saying Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition. The drive I want to put it on is empty. Anyone have any suggestions?

OK. So the laptop works good on Linux.
Others have noted that a Linux install can make it  hard to install Windows 10.  Why? Because all regular versions of  Windows will not overwrite a UNIX drive.

The commended way to fix this is as follows:
      A. Get a new or used Hard Drive that  been set to work with Windows. This is also called MS-DOS mode.
      B. Or, get a tolerable CD of the GParted  program or any Linux live CD with GParted .
Use it to wipe or format the drive and set it to MS-DOS mode.

This is not new information. It was documented  elsewhere. Here is a thing on Tom's Hardware about this compatibility issue.
Need to switch a Linux hard drive back to Windows

      Hope you understand this.  :)
