I found this in Firefox help

How do I get rid of the message "A web page is slowing down your browser, what do you want to do, wait or stop it"?   Last reply by FredMcD 1 day ago

IT ONLY APPEARS IN FIREFOX WHEN OPENING UP CHARTER.NET FOR MY EMAIL CHARTER DISAVOWS ANY PROBLEM FROM THEIR END. IE IS OK. THANKS. JOHN
    Chosen solution

Another user posted a similar question.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox. A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).

    Is the problem still there?

I AM LOOKING FOR A SOLUTION OTHER THAN STARTING IN SAFE MODE.  REFRESHING FIREFOX DOES NOT HELP.

                                  THANKS, JOHN

I am also having this problem with almost every web site I go to - including Firefox. Starting in safe mode is not an option for me.

This is a recent issue. Does Firefox need to change its programming?

I'm about to change to a new browser since this slows my work to an intolerable level.

Safe Mode  is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off
hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables
add-ons (extensions and themes). If the problem goes away,
that tells us one thing. If it does not, that tells us something else.

I have refreshed firefox twice over the past two weeks.  I went into safe mode, opened up some progras, didn't really know what I was looking for.   I don't understand what this means

    Judy,
It is a good idea to have more than one browser at hand.
     Internet Explorer
     Chrome
     Safari
     Firefox
     Opera

Myself, I like SeaMonkey as an alternative for some things.  ;D

OK - I will try Sea Monkey again - I already had Chrome and Internet Explorer on hand.

I just wondered what this meant tho IT ONLY APPEARS IN FIREFOX WHEN OPENING UP CHARTER.NET FOR MY EMAIL CHARTER DISAVOWS ANY PROBLEM FROM THEIR END

I still don't really know why the message

Can you please close this thread - and thanks for trying to help.   The problem has not been solved, but I want to withdraw it.

          Here is a long list:
          https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/18900/consumer-antivirus-software-providers-for-windows
Some have free versions. Others other trail versions. Too many choices. But you must make a choice. If you really can not choose, try:
          Microsoft Security Essentials
Is it any true that Microsoft Security Essentials rank last in the list of anti-virus software? As in it lacks the complexity to detect smart trojans and malwares. Any true?

Here is some background about MSE:
          https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Security_Essentials
Notice that some big guys were critical of MSE because it gave users another choice in a field they thought overcrowded.

So you might expect that Microsoft would not make the free tool very powerful or impressive. However, it does do a good job  keeping out malware.
Right now I have it on my Windows XP machine. Works for me.  :)
