    System fan failure hp 873n

      when i power up my cpu, I get an error
    Message system fan failure shutti g down in 5 seconds.
    My bois shows the following:

      cpu fan speed     2039 rpm
    System fan speed    0 rpm
    Cpu temperature      39  degree  c

    Can someone tell me if this is my heatsink or my fan even though it works i can get into my bois with
    No problems.   Pls help

    Fix the fan.

    Find the fan thats not spinning and replace it. Usually its just a CPU fan that will stop a system like this. Maybe HP has the case fan as critical, although i havent see a case fan stop a system like that yet.

     This is a Pentium 4 era system.... might be a 2.53Ghz with Socket 478 Heatsink.
