windows 98 and deskjet error

hp deskjet 722c

I have previously installed other hp printers on this laptop and had this problem.  The current problem is as follows:  When I hit print in anything (word, notepad, imager, etc.) an error informs me of a general protection fault associated with the file "gdi.exe".  Search finds this in windows\system.  This seems to be a graphics file.  When I had this problem before, an hp tech talked me through disabling some hp driver files and enabling something--I can't remember.  I don't want to diable files without knowing what the result will be.  I just want my printer to work.  Any help would be appreciated.

You can alwats reinstall there driver from there main website. Just uninstall it and reinstall it. That should help with the problem. http://ccleaner.com Oh yeah make sure you clear out the junkie registry first because sometimes just uninstalling it will leave something behind
