new install glitch

when trying to install win98 to new hdd, I cant get it to boot to a drive after running fdisk and setting partition. Any help and suggestions ?

Mwillis948,

If the hard disk drive has been partitioned, however has not been formatted and does not have the system files on it, it will not boot.  After partitioning the drive you need to format the drive using the format command, once the drive has been formatted transfer the system files to the hard disk drive using the sys command. For example using a boot able floppy diskette from the A: prompt type:

format c: /s

This will format the drive and transfer the system files to the drive after it has been formatted. Once this has been completed you should at least be able to boot the hard disk drive.

I negelected in my post to mention that I formatted the drive and when I reboot it hangs at 1st screen.
