unreadable product key on new dvd
    « on: April 07, 2017, 01:23:55 PM »
My dad is unable to use his desktop anymore because of health issues. I have it now. It has W7 pro on it. I keep getting a warning saying it is an illegal copy. I bought a W7 disc from a store in Houston. The product key is unreadable. I took it back to the store. They told me to call MS. MS told me to take it back to the store. The store hasn't been able to help me. They told me it would be a week before they could get me a product key. It has been two weeks. Am I going to have to buy another disc to make operating system legal?

    Unfortunately...Yes.

I'd mention to the store Owner that you will be informing MS that he sold you a bad copy of Windows...that should get his attention...

Good news and pretty bad that they gave such a hard time on this.

Did they say why it would take a week or longer to get you a new product key?
