I was running Windows 8 pro, 64 bit on my Dell 677 with 4 GB RAM.
I just got a call from Microsoft support.
This was the first time ever that Microsoft support has called me. In the past, it was me who called them. So, I was rather surprised. From previous conversations I have had with Microsoft support, I felt uncomfortable speaking to this individual. There was something about him that seemed unusual. He showed me how to get into the event viewer and see that I have a number of things that need to be taken care of.
I also got a message that I do not had a virus program istalled. I thought I did. A web page came up and showed me info about how to find a good AV program. So I askeded if I sohould fixx this now.
He said no. Next he asked me to let him assist me with a remote connection. At this point I gave him an answer that conforms to the local policy we have at this institution. Without going into great detail, I told him that I did not have permission to do a remote connection at this time and I offered that he should call me back later. I then hung up. So far, he has not called back.
I consulted with my administrator and she told me I did the right thing and not to allow him to have remote control of my computer.
So, I just want to say, that if it really was Microsoft support that called me I want to apologize for my rude behavior, but I have to pay attention to the rules of the administrator. Otherwise, she will not cook me my dinner.
Pardon my typos, I want to go eat now and I thought I should post this first.Although I want my computer to be running very well, it's much more important to me that I have good meals every day.
Would yu have done the same? If you were very hungry?
