Can't install something because of administrator policies?
    « on: August 06, 2017, 06:57:40 PM »
So, I'm trying to install join.me on my computer, and every time I click on the installer, I get a message that says "The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation." and I am the administrator. I looked up solutions and all of them required locating the local security policy, and I can't find it anywhere.

How do we know you are the system administrator?
We can not help with something your company has put on a blacklist.

The file is named join-me.exe and is a conference tool.

Have you already tried other conference tools?
This link shows join-me along with other work-alike tools .
Ask your company if any of the others are allowed.

    I would recommend Google+ Hangout.  :)

I'm not with a company, this is for my personal computer. I want to use it to stream drawing. I did in the past, but I uninstalled it. I'm not really sure if I'm the  system administrator, or what that means.

      what is you Windows version?

assuming Win10, (change view to small icons), go into Control Panel, User Accounts, you should see your account, with your profile picture and words underneath, something along the lines

         Owner
         Local Account
         Administrator
         Password protected

      what do you see?

If it is Windows 10  do this:
      Quote
Run the software setup file as an administrator and check if it helps.
      a. Right click on the setup file of the software that you are trying to install.
      b. Select “Run as administrator”.

and in Control Panel, User Accounts, is your login account a Standard User or an Administrator?
and you can still try Geek-9pm suggestion of right clicking the executable.

Yes, I have. It's one of the first ones I saw. Once again, I cannot find the "local security policy" on my computer. I've looked in the place it's supposed to be, and it's not there.

GPE is only included in W7 Pro or Ultimate. You probably have the Home edition.

Don't worry about logging into the hidden admin account - just boot to safe mode and try to install the app from there. Let's see what happens.
