On-Line Accounts: Why do lthey make it so hard?
« on: August 15, 2017, 04:34:44 PM »
Maybe it is just me. But it seems that on-line account management is getting harder. Specifically:
  • AV Subscription
  • Banking Service
  • Download Software
  • Web Hosting
I just now paid for a AV subscription and got an activation code. The instructions for activation do not match what I see on the screen  ???

Earlier I went to my Bank and they have doubts that I am who I say, but it is the very same  computer and cookies are present.  Do they think somebody took my cookies ? :P

To get 'free' software I have to provide a lot of personal information.  How is that free? Is my personal information of no value?  >:(

This week I sign-up with one of the top hosting companies and the 'basic' hosting platform is a huge labyrinth. So the support people tell me to do the advanced package!  :o

Is it just me or is it harder to do something simple on the Internal. Please let me know before I go back to using Prozac once a day.  :-\

Thanks for listening. It helps to have someone to to talk about this stuff.  :)

What financial institution required you to sign up for an A/V subscription ? ?

You're being had...

The Bank did not make me get an AV subscription.
The bank has a problem knowing who I am. The even sent an e-mail asking me to sign in again. I don't know why they do that.

As for the AV,did finally did activate after I did um install and re install. The instructions were just wrong, I had to go through the activation by guess work.

As for the web-hosting, I will just have to give up on the 'basic' hosting. But I refuse to get the 'advanced' hosting just to get support. I would not need support if the did not obfuscate what ought to be simple. This is becoming a common prat ice.

It is not just doctors anymore. Webmasters are doing it all the time.

I access and review my bank account online. I use accounts for Paypal, eBay, Amazon; I pay my cable/Internet bill and my Power bill online, both with their own account, and I use transfers through my Bank website to pay my rent. I have a VPS webhost.

I've never had problems creating or accessing any of these accounts. I've never dealt with this "obfuscation" to which you refer.
I was trying to dereference Null Pointers before it was cool.
