Can't initialise Database error

 >:(I get the error message in trying to open my  Compton's Interactive Cookbook, and it closes. I've used it without any problem many times, but recently I can't open it.I get the opening screen, and then the error message "Can't initialise Database " Any ideas ? I have Windows 98SE

Thanks, but I've already uninstalled and re-installed (twice ! ) with no joy.I'll try cleaning the disc, but am not hopeful of improvement.Will let you know.

One possibility is insuffiecient memory. Try disabling all startup items that you do not use immediately.
