“Netflix On Us” - why it matters.

“Netflix On Us”
This looks more like just a press release.  But stop and think about it..
Look at this:
Quote
To help celebrate the launch, which officially rolls out next Tuesday, September 12th, T-Mobile is holding a “Netflix Meme-a-thon” on September 7th. Fans will be invited to post their favorite Netflix show quotes, GIFs and memes to be entered to win prizes like free smartphones and T-Mobile or Netflix swag. Those participating will also be entered for a chance to win tickets and an all-expense paid trip to the premier of Stranger Things season two.
Does that matter to you? Or anybody you know? Think about it. What T-Mobile wants to do is to disrupt the industry. With this kind of stuff,  T-Mobile might eat into the profit margins of other companies without doing anything to improve the technology. Think about it. Instead of making things better, it might make things worse.

If millions of consumers move over to T-Mobile just to get free stuff, the industry will become just a marketplace where people haggle over old stale merchandise that never gets better.
Do you see what I am saying?   8)

What makes you think that EVERYONE will switch to T-Mobile simply because they now have Netflix?

T-Mobile also increased the cost of the plans specifically that fall under the requirements so they are $10 more. Same price as a Netflix subscription.
I was trying to dereference Null Pointers before it was cool.

I was not aware of that;
My service is with TAG mobile and they can not increase the price.
But neither do I get free Netflix.

My rant is about how the big guys want to make more money without real work.

I mean work like:
  • Deploying new equipment.
  • Masking needed repairs on the network.
  • Giving better customer support
That kind of work benefits all.  :)
But just making a partnership with another business does little to advance technology.
