E-book reaber PocketBook 622 model is infected with a malware
    « on: September 30, 2017, 02:34:42 AM »
    Greetings, everyone

My mother complained of folders( when connected via USB to the PC) not opening, showing error

"Unable to open the script file"

After viewing the files in the directory I saw that all of them are of type "Application", including the folders

The error pop-up, that I've mentioned appears only for some folders - others are open as a new window, but still

Can you please assist me with this matter, as we're trying to avoid factory reset for the PocketBook at this point.

Also, I believe that the PC as well might be infected after attempted opening of one of these files.

    THanks in advance.

Answering to the pocketbook 622 ... this will require a factory reset to clean it up. There is no anti-malware or antivirus that can touch it. Its likely the files were corrupt on the PC before transfer to the pocketbook 622.

Someone else who is approved to assist with this on the PC side of this issue will be with you shortly. Here at ComputerHope only approved people can help with malware. The fact that the pocketbook 622 isnt a PC and I know doesnt have ways to disinfect it other than a factory reset, I can answer only to that.

However the MicroSD card that might be inserted into this pocketbook 622 will also need to be scanned using a card reader to make sure it doesnt have anything on it if this pocketbook 622 has it populated with one. A factory reset of the pocketbook 622 wont wipe this SD Card, but will only wipe its internal storage and it wont touch the external storage as the SD Card is, and so you could reinfect yourself. I'd suggest removing the SD Card from the pocket book and factory reset the pocketbook 622. This will make the pocketbook 622 clean again. That SD Card though will need to be scanned for malware or virus on it or else you can reinfect yourself. Someone else approved to do so can take over where I left off with the PC and the SD Card side of things.

Thank you, Dave. That is the only thing I would or can suggest.
