Do NOT buy Windows XP CD.
« on: October 09, 2017, 07:39:42 PM »
Do not buy a Windows XP  From eBay or anybody.  :)
CD. Unless you know your really have to have it.
You don't have to buy it if:
▐ You already have a valid COA key
▐ The PC already had a legal XP, but the HDD failed
▐ It is for a backup PC with COA  sticker

Today I had to install XP again on my PC doe to a bad thing I did.  So I looked on eBay for a replacement OEM CD only to find people are charging  $20 . But I have a  a key, and don't need to pay that  price.

Then I saw something that got me to think.  Looking g around, I see t the full ISO
image is free on a few trustworthy sites.

Just Google:
XP SP3 ISO Full Version Free
Somehow I had the idea that nobody could do this. I was wrong.  :-X It is legal to download the full ISO, not just to SP3 update.

So I did, and I am going to put it on a USB stick.   :)

Yes. I did that and Google gave me these: {headlines only, no links.}

Windows XP SP3 ISO Full Version Free Download

Windows XP SP3 .iso Download Full Version + Key …

Windows Xp iso Free Download Full Version

Windows XP Professional 64 Bit ISO Free Download [SP3

Windows XP SP3 Free Download Bootable ISO - Web …

I just now did a Google and the above are the first five. I understood earlier that nobody can do that. But it seems that maybe they can. Now if I would have asked for a free Movie that is currently in the theaters, I am sure Google would decline.

Has Microsoft gone soft?  ::)

No, you have. Google is not a policeman, and downloading "free" versions of well-known software is a pretty good way of joining a bot net or giving your confidential data to God knows who, or worse. You might even get the malware from visiting the sites.
