How to rename multiple files of different name and same extension to diff names

I have a number of file with same name and different extension in a folder, Originally these files were all in .Jpg format with different names.

like 1.j87 1.j88 1.j89 Now I've to rename each image to different name and extension individually.


How can I rename the files to different names and to .jpg format at once as the number of files is more than 100.

I've used this utility in the past; http://www.bulkrenameutility.co.uk/Download.php
it's very customisable but have not needed to use it to bulk change the file extensions.
