    Deleting wrong addresses
    « on: November 23, 2017, 11:46:17 PM »
Tricky question this.   You know how you type in your email address and it says wrong, because you had a typo, after a while you accumulate a few wrongly typed addresses and have to select the one correct one.

Is there any way you can delete the wrongly typed addresses - it could be for any site which asks for your email address.

    some more info Judy.
    like email platform?

if Outlook 2010 onwards, as you type an address in a new email, it shows all the available suggestions, at the end of each one is an X that allows that entry to be deleted from the autocomplete/nickname file.

Thanks Mark, I had not noticed that option.

I am currently on W10 Laptop (in hospital, usually use W7 Desktop)

I use gmail and Live Mail (outlook)

I'll have to wait till the choice comes up again.

my suggestion was for Outlook (the PC program) but I just tested it in outlook.com (was Hotmail, then Live.com) and it works there as well.
you mention you use Live Mail, that's actually not Outlook, more like a cut down version of it.
I don't have a Gmail to test it there.

I sense you are talking about the software version of Outlook that is often bundled with Microsoft Office.  But, joodyanne's parenthetical reference, where she said "I use gmail and Live Mail (outlook)" is clearly a reference to Outlook.com, which, for a period of time, was a functioning online email service from Microsoft, as was Live.com.  Now, the two seem to have been merged.  For anyone who originally created a Hotmail.com, Live.com, or Outlook.com email address, the URL now directs to https://outlook.live.com/owa/ and the web page that appears will show Outlook Mail in the upper left corner, as shown in the attached image.

agreed soybean, I'm onboard with all that, that's why I said I tested it in outlook.com and it worked there too.
there may be some confusion as to the OP's email client where she mentions Live Mail (outlook).
when Judy replies, we'll know.  :)

so Judy, do you use Windows Live Mail or Outlook - both are PC installed email programs.
or do you use Gmail, or outlook.com (formerly hotmail.com and live.com and now redirect to outlook.com) - both of which are browser based email clients.
or perhaps a mix of the above two?
