Rejected update
« on: April 16, 2018, 06:50:10 PM »
My laptop with Windows 10 hasn't had an update since 2016 so today I decided to see if there were any upgrades. I found one update and it installed and then shut off the computer. When I restarted the computer I received the message that it was restoring to my previous Windows 10. What's going on here?

That was likely the Fall Creators update that glitched for whatever reason...is the KB # listed ? ?

Also it does a few re-boots on it's own to complete...you may have powered down prematurely...

Just an update. After it did the restoration the only thing new I could find was the Windows 10 Update installer so I ran it for about 10 hrs. and it was stuck at 99% so I shut it down. I opened the laptop this morning and version 10586 is still there so I'm trying another download. Will report what happens next.

Just a heads up that I had one computer that was failing to install an update for Windows 10. I finally got it to take by forcing it through a clean install using a newer Windows 10 ISO provided by Microsoft. Only pain was having to reinstall everything again after wiping the hard drive. The good thing is that this path of re-installation didnt involve driver madness. Just 3 key pieces of software that i use on a regular basis.

Here is the Tool that I used to create a newer up to date ISO to get past the update that wasnt taking: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

Note when it asks what computer it was for I stated other, this way it creates a more universal ISO that i can use for other systems as well as for it might look at hardware and build an ISO specific for your build and no others if that question is still there. It also will ask what version of Windows 10 you want. I went with Windows 10 Home edition.

When you run the new DLoad make sure all your protection apps are off...

P.S. 10586 is the Build #...not the update #.

On another note, my daughter ran the upgrade of Windows 10 and now Edge won't open. Internet Explorer works and I've installed FF which also works well. It's strange how updates can cause such havoc on certain computers.

The issues with Edge are well documented...suggest not using it to her...but that may fail...

I realize there are a lot of issues with Edge that's why I told her to use IE or FF.

Use MCT (Media Creation Tool) to download iso & burn to usb flash drive using rufus.
16299.371 is the latest (Start-->run-->winver)
MCT iso is 16299.15
Spring Creators Update is on hold since it was give some BSOD's.
