Hey guys. I have a problem that I hope that you can me with. Please help. Thank you in advance.
My sister is having a problem with her computer being really slow. First thing I did was check to make sure that her security updates and realize that her computer had not been updated since 9/17. I checked to see if the automatic updates were on and it was but for some reason it stop updating. I tried to run the updates but it failed. I tried running the Windows Assistant several times. It has gotten as much as 97% installed and stopped.
I thought it might be a virus so I ran all kind of anti-virus software; Norton Anti-Virus, Norton Eraser, ESET, Malwarebytes and Spybot.
I found these instruction on Microsoft and tried them.
Method 2: Run the DISM Tool.
If the issue persists, I would have you run the DISM tool to check the system health and will try to restore the files.
Click on 'Start'.
Enter 'Command prompt' in the Search box.
In the list of results, swipe down on or right-click Command prompt, and then tap or click 'Run as administrator'.
In the Administrator: Command Prompt window, type the following commands. Press the Enter key after each command:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
To close the Administrator: Command Prompt window, type Exit, and then press Enter.
Note: The tool might take 15-20 minutes to finish running, so please do not cancel it.
I tried the following. The scanhealth said it was repairable but the restore health froze and wouldn't complete.
Please see the screenshot, I tried to manually reset the Windows Updates Components and these are the errors I got. I'm not sure whether is wuauserv is stopping properly and I can't rename the softwaredistribution. Any advice or help?
