Is this news?    :P
ol·i·gop·o·ly
noun
a state of limited competition, in which a market is shared by a small number of producers or sellers.

Just now the CBS TV network aired a report about Google.
The above subject title represents the CBS program 60 minuets..  Google states they are not a monopoly of the anti-trust law of the United States. Others disagree and are asking why there is no government action.
Here is the CBS TV story:

The report claims that Google alters the search results to for its own interest.
Before you read the CBS report, Search for this:

That's a lot of minuets...

Geek-9pm:
The only thing new about this topic is the report from the CBS program. Over in the UK and the EU this issue has been a topic for years. In fact, Google has been chastised by the EU for its search tools that favor Google advertisers.

People are asking 'why say anything now? ' Apparently Google is so big no agency dares to attack it.  And if you want to advertise on the Internet you have to use Google. The is self-apparent. Google does not have any real competition.

--- Quote ---Some time later this month we are expecting the European commission to decide how it will proceed with its investigation of the search giant Google, following the latter's submission of proposed remedies at the end of January over allegations that it has engaged in a range of anticompetitive practices. For more than two years now the commission has been examining complaints from a rising number of companies – 21 formal complaints at the last count and reportedly hundreds of other submissions The alleged practices include biasing the search results to promote its own interests and preventing advertisers from running a single campaign across multiple platforms.

About two years later  the EU  ruled  a 2.7 billion EU fine.
Did  Google pay it?  Don't hold your breath. I can not find a reference they've ever paid. But I am using a Google search.     ::)

They did pay the fine. Check about 4" from bottom. I guess 2.7 billion just ain't what it used to be.
