Microphone not working

Hi,
I've been having trouble getting my microphone to work ever since i built my PC.
I have tried reinstalling the drivers multiple times and used different microphones but nothing ever pops up in sound manager.
Is it possible that the problem lies in the motherboard itself, or is there a way to fix it?

Please provide more information such as all build specs so we know what you have for hardware CPU/RAM/Motherboard/OS/Computer case/Power Supply/etc

Also has it ever worked or not yet no matter what you do?

The best i got was 1 bar in the sound control panel when i plugged it into the back of the motherboard

Windows 10 64 bit
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6400 CPU @2.70GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GT 730
Ram: Kingston KVR21N15S8K2/16
Motherboard: Asus B150M PRO GAMING
Case: Thermaltake Versa N23 w/ 600W PSU
