    XP it will say this disk needs checking for consistency

    On startup of XP it will say this disk needs checking for consistency hit any key within seconds usually get this when you unplug machine from power is there or can it be done so one can disable this?

    1) Why are you unplugging it? You should not pull the plug while while in Windows (or even when it isn't until shutdown is complete).

    2) Open a command prompt and type: chkdsk c: /r  and press ENTER. You will see a message that the disk is locked and do you want to run the check on reboot. Say yes. Reboot.

    3) Stop pulling the plug while in Windows
