    x doesn't display and w becomes gigantic
    « on: July 29, 2018, 10:38:09 PM »
I recently opened some files from an old, and possibly corrupted USB memory stick.
One of the files appeared buggy. I also moved some fonts from the USB to my computer.
Since that time, two days ago, my Google search results have appeared as in the attached photo.
Lowercase x doesn't display at all, and lowercase, and possibly uppercase w become extremely distorted and block other text.
    Any ideas?

Restore computer to earlier point before you had the mishap and it should be fixed using a restore point. Then don't mess with the data on that USB stick. Run full virus/malware scan and scan the USB stick as well just in case. Its likely corruption vs malware but to cover all bases.

I opened a word document that I had written some time ago in Arial, and the same error was happening there, too. However, when I changed fonts it disappeared, so I downloaded Arial and installed it....BOOM, problem solved!

      Mark.

I'd still be concern with how this all happened.

wouldn't hurt to do some scans to investigate.

"I also moved some fonts from the USB to my computer."

The font files they installed were probably corrupted.
