1TB SATA HDD and RAM on disk / temp files Q

Hi!

I found in my garbage one 1TB SATA HDD with only one problem - after power off it loose all data.
So it's behavior like RAM.
I want to ask if is possible to store there temp files or use paging for virtual RAM?

Maybe will be req'd to create partition and format it after bootsequence.

I'm asking only for simple reason: other purpose disk has not and if is it not possible, I will have full trash.

By "SATA HDD" do you mean a Solid State Drive? Because I cannot fathom how a standard magnetic platter drive would "wipe itself" after power off.

I mean Serial ATA Hard disk drive - SATA HDD.
No SATA SSD or SSD.

Really dont understand this behavior, if is it possible to fix, tell me please where to search for solution or possible fix.

The Windows OS and others have a delayed write feature. Normally you would power down the computer using the recommended method for the computer.

With a hard drive you must not remove power before the delayed write is finished.

The hard drive does not forget. Instead, it never got the data.
It is not the fault of the hard drive. This has been documented elsewhere.

Harddisk had written data and there were stored custom icons for RocketDock.
I configured RocketDock and shutdown computer normally.
Next day I booted and saw configured RocketDock, but instead icons I found everywhere question marks - behavior when selected icons are missing.
So, I meant that it's config problem, opened items to select icons again and no one was found on the disk.

If you can help me how to check what is there problem, I will be very thankful.
1TB is not so low amount of storage space.

So, now I tested disk and really it saves data correctly.
