How do you know if you have a malware in Mac?

Is there any way to know if you have a malware in your Macbook using the available tools/software already installed in the computer?

Someone told me there are no viruses in Mac so what I probably have is a malware.

I just have this macbook for a year and now it keeps hanging twice or three times a month since 2 months ago. I suspect I have been infected by malware.

Hey boruto, I worked (briefly) in apple product support and they endorse the use of Malwarebytes for malware.  I would definitely download the free version for Mac and run a scan.  Other things to check are making sure the software is up to date and that you have at least 15% free space on the hard drive.  Cleaning up junk files on a Mac is quite a bit more involved than on windows.  Steps can be found on the official apple support page.

Okay thanks for the info. Is there something on Macbook similar to the CC Cleaner in Windows? Can't seem to locate where the CC cleaner is (that is if they also have one)

Download and run MalwareBytes
