How to disable Start menu pop-up by Windows key?
    « on: February 05, 2019, 11:43:38 AM »
    Hi!

I'm using whole keyboard to programming own functions.
Last problem which is for me mystery is disabling Start menu pop-up at Windows key press.

Is it possible to disable - but Windows key working and leave Start menu possible to show by Windows button?
It is easy to disable Windows key, but there are on my keyboard two keys unused. Please don't suggest me to remap them.

Thank you for all suggestions and help.

Please say more clearly what you want to do. It is possible to remap the Windows key, but you also say you don't want to do that. There is a utility called Sharpkeys, maybe uou should play around with that.

Map Any Key to Any Key on Windows 10, 8, 7, or Vista

    I agree with Salmon Trout.
The windows key is vital to many programs.
What do yo men 'programmable keyboard'?
And why doe sit require the windows key?
Who told you to do that? It sounds like a mean prank.

I use a thing like Auto Hot Key.

Are you using that software?  :)

I'm using AHK scripting and few keys have remapped also by SharpKeys 3.7.

      To make it clear:
Some of for me important programs recognize only standard keyboard.
No any F13-F24, Kana, No Convert or Convert, Meta and other modifiers.
I need standard keys - and Windows key is modifier, that's important.
Of course I'm using for me not important keys PgUp and PgDn as modifiers in AHK.

Is possible to disable only menu pop-up?
Longer time ago I had problem with combination Win+L - lock desktop, but it was solved by few settings.
I found no way yet to disable menu pop-up by Windows key.
I think any way must to be 'cause it is not hardwired like Apple Eject key.
I solved in retrocomputing also recognize between Shift and hardwired ShiftLock even LShift and RShift.
So exist any way? All suggestions are welcome - no matter of method.
