Need a bit of html help please
    « on: September 04, 2018, 04:25:16 PM »
I hope I have selected the correct place to put my quarry.

I haven't done any coding in about 8 or 9 years, and even then I was only good enough to be dangerous so please bare with me.

I am creating a web site for a new business my son and I are opening. Since I haven't done coding in a long time I decide to just get a free web template and use that as my starting point. The template I selected has style sheets and JS and JS has always been my arch enemy.

Anyway I have created the site and and having multiple small issues. It will for the most part display correctly on mine and my son's laptops, but when I bring it up on my Lenovo Tab 4 8 or on my Android phone, the back ground image (drone/planet with drone also) is moved to the left so that about 1/4 of it does not show on the page and there is a bare spot all the way down the page.

Any help with this would be great. None of the links other than the place holder pictures are functional yet. I wanted this page working correctly before I moved on.

I have a working copy at etaim.com if anyone could see what I am doing wrong I would be forever in your debt. I have been at this for over a week trying to make it display correctly on the tab. The tab will be with me at all times and I need it working to show prospective customers.

    Tks

As for why it's not working - I can't dive into the code of your site. But if you're designing a site for a wide array of devices, make sure to take advantage of the developer tools in your browser, which can render your page as if your browser were a mobile device.

      In Chrome - https://developers.google.com/web/tools/chrome-devtools/device-mode/

      In Firefox - https://developers.google.com/web/tools/chrome-devtools/device-mode/emulate-mobile-viewports

This will help you to immediately see how your site appears on different devices after you make changes to your code.

If you're not already using the rest of the developer tools, definitely get to know them. They are top notch in both browsers.

I'm looking your website with my Samsung Galaxy Tab A (8") and I don't see a bare spot all the way down the page.  Which side of the page is the bare spot on?  What color is it?

Regarding the planet-with-drone image, it is completely shoved off the left side of the page if I hold my tablet in portrait position.  If I rotate the tablet to display in landscape view, I see part (about 2/5) of it on the left side of the page.

For what it is worth. I gave up on doing stuff by myself twenty years ago. I used a thing that just lets you modify a standard design. It was Trellix.
