    Chromium

Somehow, a software call Chromium (not chrome) was installed on my computer.
When I go to the uninstall area thru settings, the "uninstall" button is greyed out.

How do I uninstall this program?

There is a genuine browser called Chromium, which is an open-source version of Google Chrome. This can be removed using the normal methods -

Click on the Start Menu, and then choose All Programs.
Click on the Chromium folder, and then choose Uninstall Chromium.
Click Uninstall in the confirmation dialog box.

    Or, using Control Panel

    1. Open the Control Panel, and then choose Uninstall a program.
    2. Choose Chromium from the list of programs, and then click on the Uninstall button at the header of the list.
    3. Click Uninstall in the confirmation dialog dialog box.

Unfortunately, its open source nature means it is easy for rogue sites and apps to install bogus, doctored versions that can contain adware or malware, can track you, redirect your browsing, and be a hazard to your security. Very often the fake Chromium is 'bundled' with 'free' software that people have downloaded.

If you are sure you have the second kind, post a new question in the Virus section of Computer Hope. There are step-by-step guides on the web that claim to tell you how to remove fake Chromium, but bogus sites may have got you into this mess in the first place, so I think you should go to the experts.

Why do you ask? Don't you have admin rights? Have you tried the steps?
