Uncontrollable scrolling on web pages
« on: January 12, 2006, 03:35:52 PM »
Ok this is wierd, but sometimes when I get on a website, the page will scroll up and down erratically.  I have even taken my hand off the mouse and watched it do it for sometime.

It doesn't go all the way down and then back up, it just jumps up and down.  It is strange.

Is this a serious problem?  Do i have a virus or something?  Are there any solutions?

Pleas Help

Are you using anything for spyware/adware/viruses? You may have answered your own question.

ahol29...... If you are certain you dont have any nasties in residence .........
Do you have another mouse you could try ........ I had a P/S2 mouse do the same thing recently .........a new mouse resolved the issue .
Remember when dealing with computers.......nothing should surprise you anymore.

If you don't know the answer, it isn't a dumb question.

Always have a spare mouse and keyboard (non USB) for emergencies. I would try dl65's advice.

I don't know anything about counterspy, but I run Spybot as well as Ad-Aware. On way more than one occasion Spybot has found issues that Ad-Aware did not.

    What OS are you running?

If you are running 2000 or XP you can load the Microsoft Anti-Spyware Beta 1 as well and Ewido anti malware 3.5.

Not saying this is your issue, but this would give you a little more positive backup that you don't have a "nasties" problem.
