MS Word
« on: April 06, 2019, 02:29:05 PM »
Hi All,
I am looking for a replacement for MS word. I really don't want to pay the monthly fee they want. The best thing would be something I could load onto my machine that would work like word. Not really interested in any other things in office like excel etc...   Running MS 10

Anything you can come up with would be great!

Thanks All

And you can run it on Linux boxes too...

If your needs are fairly basic, you can use Microsoft Office Online for free. You use a browser, and access it via a Microsoft account which is free. It looks just like MS Office is on your PC, except that you save documents to your OneDrive. You can also download them to your PC or share them with people, or make PDFs, etc. I use it on my tablet.

Office 2013, 2016, and 2019 are standalone, "single-purchase" products and don't have a monthly fee, if you really, really, want Office/Word over any alternatives. Home & Student is around $150.
I was trying to dereference Null Pointers before it was cool.

In 2017 my employer (a UK public body) made Office 2013 available as a download for £9.99 (US $13 approx) to all staff; you had to pay the same again to get it on a disk, I asked for a disk and they sent it but forgot to bill me for it. The license will expire immediately if I stop working for that employer, but I don't plan on telling.

-- Like you I also don't want a monthly or annual subscription, My electric and Internet bill is enough for me to be stressed out, but Microsoft Office is really my go to software in terms of creating documents, excel etc, but try open office I once used it because MS word are "costly" said my previous company.

WPS is quite good free alternative to Office. Dislike LibreOffice ugly user interface.
