    De-frag SSD?
    « on: May 24, 2019, 03:40:07 AM »
    Just read a post on another forum which said to NEVER,EVER de-frag an SSD. Poster claimed it will cut service life in half. Is this true?

    A SSD?
    No need to de-frag.  The OS does whatever is needed.

    You don't need to defrag SSDs so just don't do it but if people make claims like it "halving the life of the drive" they are definitely exaggerating or just making up statistics.

    Camerongray,
    I agree.
    Why people start myths is a mystery.  ???
    Using their logic,one might say;
     -   "use you PC only one day a week and 'twill last twice as long."
    Chocoholic non sense.   ::)
