    How to replace CMOS battery in Asus A6R laptop?

    Hi!

    I was searching web for any tutorial or images how to replace CMOS battery / its position - found near nothing...
    I found only picture in attachment.

    Really don't understand Polish text even it is translated into my Slovak language...
    Can anybody help me with CMOS battery finding or replacing?

      Helped not.

      Any other way? I sent mail to that man, but reply arrived not yet.

        Whole manual is basic info about notebook and its usage.
        Nothing helpful.

        In the picture you provided, it has already been removed.  It has a short cable that plugs into the white connector.  The battery would go under the arrow.
        The replacement battery comes with a short cable & connector attached.

            No, there it is not.
            That white connector is for cooling fan power wire.

            Where to find really technician manual or so?

              I got answer from Asus support.
              They replied that are not able to show technician manual...
              I have to disassemble notebook and change CMOS battery which is on bottom side of MB.
              I tried it - it was impossible to disassemble it - I don't want to risk, really it was without screw and helped not, even CMOS battery was not visible anyway.
              It is crazy to have much easier CPU access than CMOS battery...

              Not crazy,
              It's on the top side of the board to save manufacturing costs. This helps with cmos  security. Also because it should only need replacing every 8 to 10 years, which is probably longer than the life of the laptop it doesn't need to be accessible. If you are needing to replace it so soon the laptop must have been sitting with a flat main battery for a long time.

                It's old laptop lent from my sister.
                She had it at home long time unused, was bought ~2006, so CMOS battery is normally discharged.
                I need this laptop for retrocomputing - not as computer, only for providing disk space by DOS software.

                I have on my PC installed Windows 10 x64 incl. NTVDM64 and it allows me to run DOS software, but it needs direct disk access which is in modern Windows restricted.
                Even, that software uses for data transfer parallel port, so req'd is at least LPT card.

                Or, other Q: Is possible to override restriction and allow direct disk access in Windows 10 x64?

                Then if you keep the laptop with a charged main battery and except the error on start the "cmos battery needs replacing" the laptop will still work and and keep the settings using the main battery power.

                And if you are using a Virtual machine under Windows 10 then there is no direct connection to hardware as the hardware is created using software.

                  Virtual machine you mentioned is NT Virtual DOS Mode?
                  Or think you about Hyper-V or VMware etc?
