Cant connect to Shared printer when using Static IP
    « on: February 19, 2020, 10:50:18 PM »
Hi, im setting up a home network with 4 Desktop units, and 1 printer is connected to PC-A, i'm having problem connecting to the printer when i set a Static IP for PC-A I cant connect to the printer. But when im using DHCP assigned IP for PC-A i have no problems connecting to the printer, the problem in using DHCP when the router is reset or sudden lost of electricity which will cause the router to reset, there are times that the DHCP assigned IP gets assigned to other devices connected to the network which also causes problem where i need to reconnect to the printer in the new IP address. I'm using windows 10 and PC units are on wifi connected to the router. and Brother mfc-l2700dw printer

    wagkna,
Avoid using static IP for your small network.
Who told you to use static IP? In Windows DHCP is the normal thing.
    Read this:

Is there a resewn to not use DHCP?

I wanted to use static  IP because every time that my router resets my network printer address changes and i need to re connect other computer units printer to the new assigned IP. and my router does not have DHCP IP reservation to preassign an IP to the mac address of the computer where the printer is connected. my router is Huawei HG8447.

You will find the help you need on this forum.  :)
Be patient your problem seems to be unusual. Om Windows 10 the IP is needed only if Windows can not find the printer name.
Here is the CH guile to printer setup in a network.

If you really don't want a print server, you're going to use a method that is referred to as Direct IP Printing. You'll create a GPO (Group Policy Objects). You'll configure a "Deployed Printer" GPO and instead of going through the DNS name, you'll look under the section of "TCP/IP Device (or Printer, I can't remember the verbatim)".

You may want to read this: https://smallbusiness.chron.com/use-static-addresses-printers-57587.html
Most important part: When you assign static IPs for your printers, make sure that none of them fall within the IP address range -- or pool -- used by your DHCP server to assign IPs to other devices such as computers and laptops.
