How can I access my webcam from a different computer than the one it's hooked up to, through my local area network? maybe there's a free program that let's me do this? thanx.

I donot believe that would be possible. I know this may sound strange, but people tend to want to sit behind their webcam whilst operating it.

If you are looking into keeping your computer secure, you may wish to look into other types of security?

Two possible solutions:
1. Download and install VNC for windows
2. Get an IP camera and simply view it with your browser.

I think you access the camera as if it was a shared scanner on the LAN, you have to have file and printer sharing up before you can do it. Check with the web cam maker's software package on this.
