    RAM

    Hello all.

I am thinking to increase the RAM to 8GB in my system. Please advise me which is better to to buy 1) two RAM sticks of 4GB each or 2) one single stick of 8GB?
Please tell me the reason why. Your advice will be highly appreciated.

If you use a single 8 GB stick, you have the option to add another 8 GB stick later.

If you use two 4 GB sticks on a dual memory channel motherboard with the same timings as the 8 GB stick, you may achieve a very small performance increase, but probably you will not notice the difference. Consult your motherboard manual for optimal RAM configuration in available slots.

Or you can travel to Crucial.com and run their free online scanner...
You don't have to buy theirs but it'll tell you exactly what type you need...

My PC was built for me.  Crucial's scanner couldn't provide any recommendations for upgrade.  Maybe it just identifies the PC type and provides recommendations from a list - I had assumed it actually analysed the hardware.  All my components are standard.
