Installation of Media Player
« on: February 09, 2006, 04:19:39 PM »
I copied the Mac version of Windows Media Player to a CD and went to install it on my Mac, but the installer would not start.
I downloaded it from here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=75ee2b64-5184-422a-91b6-20eed03e6175&DisplayLang=en

Whenever I try to open it, it says that the file cannot be opened because the program that created it could not be found.

The file type is: hqx
File name: WMPlayer7_1_EN.hqx

How do I install the HQX file?

( I am not very good with Macs)

I figured it out.

The .hqx file is some sort of zip file.

To get WM7 installed, I had to copy it to my Desktop, drag the HQX icon over the Aladdin DropStuff(tm) program, let it change the file to .hqx.sit , open that file, let it copy the contents to the real file (which sends it to the desktop), then install it.

This is why I do not like Macs, no WinZip!
It took a while to figure it out, but once I found the DropStuff program, I started to get it.
