Only able to visit ipv6 sites - NO ipv4 sites - help please!
    « on: November 10, 2021, 05:47:23 AM »
    Hi,

I have an internet connection issue that has been driving me insane for weeks - hoping someone can help!

Basically I am only able to view sites from Google and YouTube - I understand these are ipv6 sites - all other sites (ipv4) are not viewable.

I have searched high and low for answers and have tried the following:

    - Changing the DNS settings to:

    IPv4 : DNS set to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

    IPv6 : DNS set to 2001:4860:4860::8888 and 2001:4860:4860::8844

    - Updated drivers

    - factory reset router

    - shut off antivirus and firewall. Tried an alternate antivirus.

    - did malware/virus scan

    - tried a different wireless dongle

    - tried the following CMD instructions:

    ipconfig /flushdns

    ipconfig /registerdns

    ipconfig /release *CON*

    ipconfig /renew

    netsh int ip reset all

    netsh winsock reset all

    netsh winsock reset catalog

    netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log

    netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log

    netsh int ip reset all

    ipconfig /release

    net stop "dns client"

    net start "dns client"

All my other devices are fine.

The frustrating issue is that sometimes one of the above commands (usually 'flushdns') plus a restart will fix things temporarily. That might be for up to a few hours or just a few minutes or even seconds.

The problem keeps returning. My work is totally reliant on a reliable internet connection, so I'm tearing my hair out.

Any suggestions would be very gratefully received.

    Thank you.

Odd... If your router has the ability to force it to running IPv4 and IPv6 disabled I'd try that as Google and Youtube will work still through IPv4. The factory default for your router may be to have IPv6 enabled.

I had some issues with IPv6 and my Ruko a few years ago and basically shut off IPv6 and forced the router to IPv4 and problem went away.
